• GENERAL FITNESS AND WOMAN'S HEALTH

Having a keen interest in various sports and activities throughout my childhood and into adult life, I have used my life experiences to guide me on my fitness journey and in supporting others. As a junior golfer, then track and hockey through High School, jogging and various fitness classes sufficed until I became a Mum at 35. Walking was my initial choice then prior to turning 40 I found a love for Kickboxing. I retrained from being a Remedial Massage Therapist since 2001 and combined my passion for fitness and health into my livelihood. Through the women I have met along my 10 plus years Fitness Coaching journey, I have strived to support them to the best of my ability with additional skills gained as a GP Exercise Referral Practitioner, CancerPlus Exercise Coach, Boxing Scotland Level 1 Certified Coach and Pre to Post Natal Exercise Instructor.

Since having a second in 2018, I have further developed my skill set in order to reach and better serve women of all age groups and fitness levels. Having become an Advanced Post Natal Exercise and Wellness Coach, Peri to Post Menopause Wellness Practitioner, I run Women only Boxing for Fitness Sessions, Women only progressive exercise preparation sessions in readiness for weight lifting and strength building, in addition to more recently qualifying as a Pregnancy and Post Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist whereby focus is on improving breathing synergy, core function and strength, pelvic floor function and integration with exercise and movement and improving postural and structural function at all ages.

  • PREGNANCY & POST NATAL

As an Advanced Post Natal Exercise and Wellness Coach and Pregnancy and Post Partum Corrective Exercise Specialist, my focus, even within a group setting, is on the individual needs of the mother and raising expectations from a Post Birth Rehab Specialist.

Guiding women on their Post Natal journey and beyond. Through a whole person centred approach; assessing posture and alignment; movement ability; easing restrictions within the body; regaining optimal breathing strategies; correcting imbalances within the abdomen and pelvic floor and improving their overall function, including urinary incontinence and prolapse; with the purpose of safely returning to dynamic and heavy gym or sports by creating the strongest foundation as a result of sound core and global rehab. The exercises I deliver can assist females at any stage in their lives, whether or not they have given birth or whether they have general or age related pelvic floor dysfunction.

Since previously running Post Natal exercise sessions to groups of up to 12 women, I have further qualified to become an Advanced Pregnancy & Post Natal Wellness Practitioner and Pregnancy to Post Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist, a course which was created by a leading Woman’s Health Physiotherapist and which gives me an in-depth understanding of postural, pelvic and biomechanical changes throughout pregnancy and a deeper knowledge to truly safely assist women through every trimester of pregnancy and beyond to achieve their personal Post Partum goals, whether that be with fitness levels, improving concerns such as leakage, pelvic organ prolapse using a whole body approach

  • PERI TO POST MENOPAUSE TRANSITION WELLNESS & EXERCISE

Midlife can be a time for reflection and changes in direction for a woman, from grown up children leaving the nest, to having late babies (as I have) and the rollercoaster of fluctuating hormones and how they affect daily life. Some women thrive during their Menopause Transition and see it as a new beginning, a time to put their own, often unmet needs first. Fulfilling dreams they thought they would ever achieve, travelling places they never imagined possible. However sadly this isn’t the case for all, with many women struggling with mental health, overwhelm, low mood, crippling anxiety, self doubt, unexplained weight gain, insomnia, aches and pains, low libido… the list can seem endless. More often than not, a woman feels alone through her Menopause journey and doesn’t understand what is going on within herself.

I believe that when women come together they can support each other and their families in better understanding this stage of life. With some gentle guidance on self care, appropriate regular exercise, nutrition advice, combined with the opportunity to speak within a safe environment around other women facing similar challenges, barriers can be broken down, knowledge can be gained and experiences shared, all of which can help to ease the burden and isolation a woman often feels at this time of their life.

Through regular meet ups, providing the latest evidence based research and information, discussing all things Menopause and sharing experiences such as meditation, wellness sessions, exercise focusing on bone and muscle strength, balance and co-ordination, integrating mental stimulation, maintaining vitality markers in order to reduce risk of falls, improving pelvic floor function, more women can start thriving through this stage and out the other side of Menopause, with a good dose of laughter for medicine thrown in along the way!
